If SoulTree products are sulphate-free, how do shampoos and shower gels foam?

The little foaming you experience while using our products is due to reformulation tweaks we made based on customer feedback. All our products contain no SLS/SLES and have been certified as natural by BDIH, Germany.

If SoulTree products are paraben-free, what gives them a comparable shelf-life?

SoulTree products contain preservatives such as Potassium Sorbate and/or Sodium Benzoate that have been derived from botanical ingredients.

What ‘safe’ chemicals does SoulTree use?

The chemicals used in SoulTree products are derived from botanical ingredients and are categorized as ‘natural’ by both BDIH, Germany and the Safe Cosmetics Campaign. Are all natural ingredients in SoulTree products organic?

Whilst most ingredients used in SoulTree products are organic, some (highlighted with an asterick (*) in our ingredients list) have been sourced from wild forests and natural habitats that have minimum risk of contamination. Each product follows guidelines provided by BDIH, Germany and receive a ‘natural’ certification every single year.

What is meant by ‘ethical sourcing’?

SoulTree sources its botanical ingredients through non-profit organizations working with farmers and farmer-managed cooperatives. This guarantees a higher quality produce and fair prices to farmers. It also ensures diligent following of organic farming protocols and proficient raw material plucking, collection and sorting techniques in sourcing hand-picked ingredients - such as aamla and apricots from forests or organically cultivated ingredients such as turmeric and sweet almonds.

Where does SoulTree source lipstick ingredients like Coco-Caprylate/Caprate and Isoamyl Laurate?

As a certified natural brand, our ingredients are sourced from natural origin. The Isoamyl Laurate used in our lipsticks is made from plant sources such as palm oil, coconut oil, corn et al whilst Coco-Caprylate/Caprate comes from coconut oil.

I am allergic to most lipsticks sold in the market today. What type of ingredients do SoulTree lipsticks contain and could I be allergic to them?

SoulTree lipsticks are made from natural origin colours, organic sweet almond oil, desi ghee, forest honey and natural rose essence – all of which are great for lip care and colour. Additionally, our lipsticks do not contain any chemicals such as lead, silicones, parabans or dyes derived from animals. Does SoulTree use dyes in their coloured Kohl range?

Yes, these products contain colour dyes that have been derived from naturally occurring minerals and are considered natural by BDIH, Germany as well as by the Safe Cosmetics Campaign.

What’s the best way to store SoulTree products?

SoulTree products are unaffected by temperatures up to 40-45 degrees Celsius, however they must be kept away from heat and light sources. Our Lipstick and Kohl range is suggested to be stored in cool places – below 30 degrees Celsius.
